Priest in Charge
W
e are very happy to announce the arrival of
The Revd Peter Sharpe,
as our Priest-in-Charge.following his licensing on 23rdrd May 2012

Formerly Peter was the Rector of South Hill with Callington, Priest-in-Charge of Stoke Climsland and Linkinhorne, Curate-in-Charge of St lve and Rural Dean of East Wivelshire.

Peter will also be responsible for the Benefice of St Ruan with St Grade and Landewednack.

Please leave Peter and Jan free to enjoy Fridays - their day 'off', and on that day only contact them in an emergency.

The following profile has been supplied by Peter

Briefly: I am happily married to Jan and we have four (apparently) grown up children - and now our first grandchild, a little girl. Family is a big part of my life, as well as various pets including three dogs. In terms of work, having graduated in economics, I spent the first part of my life in banking, mostly in London and mostly in project lending supporting residential development. I was ordained in 2001 and most recently looked after six churches in the far east of Cornwall as well as being Rural Dean.

I was not born into a Christian family, but came to faith at 17. Nor have I been in the Church of England for most of my life, coming late to my local parish church in the early nineties. I have grown up in Christ in a number of settings and styles of church and discovered the glorious good news of God breaking into all of them.

I love prayer, worship and spending time with God in his word - and I love sharing this with people; preaching and teaching, and just talking faith and thinking together.

At a challenging time for church and society I remain convinced: that God is good and he is in charge; that Jesus' life, death, resurrection and ascension have the power to change lives and meet the deepest needs of all sorts of people; and that God hasn't left it to people like me (or us) to make this happen, but by his Spirit he is here doing it himself.

We welcome visitors to worship with us, and if they wish to, to share something of their experience of God and where he is taking them, as well as hearing from us of the blessings we have experienced from him. May you have a wonderful holiday here if you are planning to visit us.
